About me

My passion for photography was sparked by athazagoraphobia, a fear of forgetting someone or something, and a fear of being forgotten. My own personal experience with short-term memory loss and seeing it in my family ignited my desire to capture moments. Storytelling with a photo eased the phobia, and Arlene Paz Photography came to life, capturing the unseen and mundane, one moment one, experience at a time.

Capturing the Unseen

Growing up, my mom had a funny knack for taking photos where people's heads were cut off. Instead of seeing it as a mistake, I learned to look closer at the details within the photographs, appreciating what others didn't see beyond the obvious. This unique approach to capturing 'the unseen and mundane' has shaped my photography style.

My Vision

I want viewers of my work to feel and experience the same appreciation for simple things in everyday life that they normally wouldn't pay attention to. I want them to use their imagination on what makes the image speak, to create their own stories of what makes the shot special.

Houston's Influence

Living and working in Houston has significantly influenced my photography. Houston has so much life and diversity; it's hard to not want to experience and explore all that the city has to offer. From a vibrant nightlife to engaging greenspaces, bold and classical architecture, and cultural diversity at every turn, 30 seconds of our time to take the shot is all it takes.
